DESCRIPTION

Here in the town of Lindworm, where humans and monsters coexist, a new young doctor, Glenn, begins another day of perilous medical exams! Whether he's examining deep inside a mermaid's gills, stitching up a flesh golem's thigh, assisting a harpy in laying her eggs, or palpating every last scale on a dragon, Glenn is just doing his best to help these girls whose appearances and bodies are all so completely different... so why does he always end up in such precarious positions with his patients? It's all good, though, because it's strictly for medical purposes! He may come close to suffocating from the pressure of his lamia assistant Saphentite's tail coiling around him, but still, the clinic is open for business in this medical fantasy that explores the physiologies of monster girls as never before!

Honestly, in a grounded fantasy world, Monster (Girl) Doctor is a fun & interesting profession to watch!
I'm surprised there was no review for Monster Girl Doctor yet, so as someone who loves the anime's concept and the way it flirts a bit with monster girl biology, i decided to share my thoughts :3
There might be what you could consider small spoilers, mostly showing and talking about some of the monster girls you'll see in this anime.

Quality wise this anime is lacking in some departments. Animation is average at best, CGI is rough, dialogue is stiff at times, the voice acting is mostly good and there were a decent amount of scenes where characters barely move, just stand around talking like a goldfish or move almost robotic.

It's def not a high budget anime is what i'm getting at.

BUT MAN, do i love the concept of Monster girl doctor. It's a really fun and interesting idea. It's neat seeing a bunch of cool and cute monster girls come in with medical problems and watching the monster doctor figure out how to treat them.

There really aren't many anime built around fantasy medicine and treatment like this so it does stand out, especially when you're someone like me who LOVES fantasy monsters and their biology.

The character designs are pretty good and the world is varied with all kinds of unique monsters, hybrids and fantasy races: Lamias, centaurs, harpies, slimes, dragons, mermaids, cyclops, catgirl, fairies, spider hybrids, giants and many more.
The world itself is pretty charming. Humans and monsters living together mostly peacefully in unique towns and areas that have enough detail to make the settings feel interesting.

Almost every episode introduces someone new, like a monster (and medical case) of the week ;) Sadly most of the treatments come down to things that feel surprisingly... Normal? There were many chances to really explore how completely different anatomies would work and how fantasy medicine would adapt for each monster species but they kept it fairly simple and straightforward. Even though that's the case, they were amusing in their own ways.

The anime plays out like your usual mild harem and light romance with the classic jealousy, teasing, harmless spats between the girls, some small fights here and there, and naturally the fanservice is present, which i personally enjoy (especially with cute monster girls).

None of those things are bad, but i do think it's a bit of a waste of potential for the anime to be just that with such a neat concept. I wish it tried to be more intelligent, complex, daring and for them to go harder on the science, fantasy medicine and monster doctor aspects instead of just being light harem anime #5267 but with monster girls. (Some people just want that, and that's fine too :3)

The pacing is chill, the stakes are low, and the show is mostly wholesome, it feels a lot like a slice of life despite the tag lacking, the comedy is alright, but mostly just innocent light gags trying to get a chuckle out of you instead of a lmao.

So for someone who just wants something relaxing and or just look at neat monster girls this is an easy and a mind off show to just throw on. Most episodes tell a small story without dragging things out too much, even if nothing impressive or amazing happens it's still enjoyable watching the doc solve monster related problems.

Monster Girl Doctor is one of those anime where the core idea (and cute monster girls) carried hard and is enjoyable despite the mediocre production quality. It's entirely on me that i wanted this anime to be so much more.
Now, i know i'm repeating myself here, but If they would've taken it a bit more serious and shifted the focus to creative and daring monster biology, in depth fantasy medicine and treatment and clean up the animation this could've been seriously damn good!

But honestly, if i was in a grounded fantasy world, Monster (Girl) Doctor would be one of the professions i'd love to pursue!

Episode 12DUBThe City of Dragons' DoctorSkadi’s surgery was a success and all of Lindworm had rejoiced. While the whole city is rejoicing, Sapphee ends up catching a cold, possibly from letting her guard down after they finished the surgery. Glenn takes a lot of care in taking care of her and Sapphee uses this chance to let him dote on her. Later on, Glenn has to make a house call, and ends up running into Skadi and Kunai on his way, as well as some others he had treated in the past. They all give Glenn thanks and give him various gifts. He ends up bringing back all of the food and alcohol he had received, and they have a huge party back at the clinic.25m2020-09-27
Episode 11DUBLindworm's Major OperationGlenn and the others continue to prepare for Skadi’s surgery. Arahnia is also getting better with Glenn’s guidance, but possibly due to the stress of doing something she’s not used to, her evil side surfaces. Arahnia becomes rather reckless and then Sapphee and Tisalia do something to calm her down. Meanwhile, Glenn continues to visit Skadi every day to convince her to let him conduct the surgery. Skadi tries to say that this illness is her fate, but Glenn comes up with an unbelievable way to make her change her mind. Will she eventually agree to have the surgery?25m2020-09-20
Episode 10DUBThe Self-Deprecating CyclopsGlenn begins preparing for the surgery to get rid of the tumor on Skadi’s heart. Because Skadi is a dragon, Glenn goes to the Kuklo Workshop where many of the cyclops blacksmiths work to get special tools made for her surgery. The suture needles need to be strong and mass produced, and their apprentice Memé is put in charge of getting them made because of how skilled she is. Memé is usually rather hard on herself, but she wants to do everything she can to help Skadi out, so she does her absolute best. Episode 9DUBThe Collapsed DragonSkadi had fainted during the ceremony and is quickly taken to the Central Hospital that is run by Glenn’s mentor, Dr. Cthulhy. Dr. Cthulhy tells Glenn what Skadi’s illness is and the fact that Skadi has no intention of being treated. Dr. Cthulhy is trying to respect her patient’s wishes, which is why she hasn’t tried to treat her. Glenn refuses to accept that and with the help of Kunai, examines Skadi himself. Episode 8DUBAttack on GigasThe harpies were in a panic because there was a Gigas that lived in the Vivre Mountains who was coming down to the village. Tisalia shows some leadership and helps everyone prepare and then she goes off to face the giant herself. Glenn and Sapphee realize what she was trying to do and go after her. The three of them decide to try to dissuade the giant from coming down to the village. Glenn and Sapphee venture into the woods to warn the one leaving behind all the webbing, but it happened to be Sapphee’s good friend, Arahnia. Arahnia is a fashion designer in Lindworm and came to the harpy village to see the harpy with phoenix wings for inspiration for her next design, which is why she left traps all around the forest. Episode 6DUBThe Harpy Who Couldn't FlyAfter being rescued from the slavers, Illy had been living with the other harpies in their village, but she was troubled because her feathers were falling out and she couldn’t fly anymore. Glenn tells her the reason that she can’t fly right now is that she’s molting, but Illy doesn’t agree with his diagnosis and runs off. As Tisalia leads their carriage up the mountains, there’s a sudden earthquake and landslide and Kay sprains her ankle. Glenn examines the harpies and notices Lorna acting strange. Tisalia, who also noticed something wrong with Lorna, barges in on Glenn and Sapphee during dinnertime to discuss the matter.
