100/100MahoAko is the greatest anime of all time, stan Utena.Continue on AniList!! SPOILERS !!
I believe this is the greatest anime ever made, I'm serious.
A quick summary on the show:Hiiragi Utena LOVES magical girls, obsessed with them, so when mascot Venalita gives her the opportunity to become one, she gladly becomes one, only to realize she's the villain and not a hero, she then tortures and commits sexual acts with the Tres Magia, the good magical girls, while still loving them as a fan, and creates a group of magical girl villains to defeat the Tres Magia.
I enjoyed every second of this show and I seriously believe it is the best anime I've watched as of now.
Here are 10 Reasons why:
1- Voice acting
The voice acting is genuinely the best I've ever heard, Utena sent shivers down my spine when I heard her voice, It fits so well, other characters also have amazing voice actors but Utena's especially went hard.2- Plot
Whole reason I watched the show, I've never seen much media go into the perspective of the villain much, it always felt like everything was handed to them but here we get to see the villain lose, work harder, and overcome adversity, it's a breath of fresh air from the usual villain that just has power and feels unstoppable, Utena became unstoppable.3-Characters
The characters are vibrant, are vastly different from eachother, and yet compliment eachother perfectly. My best example would be Kaoruko and Kiwi, they are so similar in nature yet they absolutely hate eachother, an amazing dynamic I never got enough of.4-Animation
Animation is surprisingly good, for an ecchi anime to have this good animation is uncommon, it's done well and the art style is eye candy to me, especially details in character design.5- Lewding
The "Lewding" done in the show isn't overkill, it's the perfect amount, it doesn't feel forced or the center point of the show, it is balanced, I also appreciate that the creator didn't lewd Korisu (doing the bare minimum), and how he integrated the lewdness into the show rather than adding it as an extra.6-Power System
Again, really surprised me. It's so simple and yet, so complex (also adds a little pop to the character design), the idea of using stars as a power system is such a genius idea, it's like a 1/5 star rating system, the more the better, simple as that, but he also made it so that outmatched characters can still win a fight, because power isn't everything, Utena vs Lord Enorme is a good example, Lord Enorme was MUCH stronger, yet Utena adapted and became a stronger person.7-Comedy
It's funny, I like seeing the girls from the Tres Magia and Enormita meeting without realizing the practically had sex mere minutes ago, I also found it really funny that Sayos new form is literally just her hiding the fact that she's a pervert, and taking the attacks because she likes them.8-BTS
We got actual peeks behind the scenes besides fighting, we saw the Tres Magia train, we saw some slice of life moments, we saw a lot that would normally not be included in such an anime and I appreciate it.9-Likability
ANYONE can appreciate this anime, it's wonderful, you might like the characters, the animation, or maybe another aspect of the show, that way people can still love the anime in different ways from eachother while still having a common thing that brings a community to life.10-Enjoyment Factor
Lastly, I enjoyed this show a lot, I always anticipated what would happen next, and always went WILD every episode, wether a character got stronger, or I got left on a cliff hanger, it was amazing, waiting a week between episodes only heightened my excitement, I would always say "If only they released it all at once..." because I wanted to continue watching it SO BADLY.That is why MahoAko is the greatest anime ever made
To show you how much I mean it, here are some anime I gave a lower score:
JJK S1 and 2
Chainsaw Man
Demon Slayer
and every season of JJBA up til part 5 (haven't watched part 6)I spent too much time on this, but that just proves how much I mean it.
sad it's over :(

100/100This show will give you: a good laugh, fanservice and a confused boner.Continue on AniListStory:
It might sound ridiculous but I did have high expectations of the story. And surprisingly, it wouldn't be completely wrong to say there were more or less three plot lines:- All girls are twisted, Good and Evil
- Have those girls ruin magical girls
- Have the main trio fight the quarter of bad girls.
Each of them was funnier than the other. Gushing is a show you can't take seriously. And once you don't, you will realize just how funny this show is. (If you are taking it seriously, you will just end up with boner.)
While I don't think we can talk about "arcs" per se, the three main plots explored in the 12 episodes are done lightly, and in a way that keeps you entertained. In other words - you won't be bored, because there is always something happening.Animation:
No complaints. The show was running smoothly, the boob animation was funny and I loved the way they did explosions or flowers popping up on the screen. It's traditional, nothing that screams bad quality.Art:
Didn't love it, but liked it enough! While at moments it looked weird, they kept the quality at medium. And that is always a great thing - if you slip up, it's not so obvious and you can still go all out on important times! Working on half-hentai might be hard (we're talking attention to detail), but everything ecchi looked fine - flushed faces, sweat, boobs... Good quality.Characters:
I obviously have to talk about Utena first. Utena is the main character, the "bad" girl. While some might argue that she didn't have much of a character development and more of a coming-out-of-her-shelf, I think she changed the most. From the "this is too much I don't want to do this" to head of Enormita - that isn't just her perverted self that achieved that!
She was great. I loved her the most from the whole show and I thought she was incredible. Of course she slipped every now and then, but it added to her character. I especially loved the little detail of her stars increasing the more f*cked up she got.
And don't even get me started on the way she beat lord Enorme. It was so clever!I didn't care too much for the other characters. I found Kiwi funny, Korisu adorable. Nemo and Matama had a great relationship (tho a bit unhealthy). As for their powers, I think all of them were interesting and nicely picked for the story.
From the magical girls, I liked Sayo the most. Of course, the anime focused on her the most too, which let us enjoy her a bunch. The point where she almost broke and Utena became disgusted by her was especially important to me and her new form is really beautiful. I am going to catch up with manga some other time and I am very curious to see just how much she changed. As for Haruka, I hated her the most. Even more than Kaoruko (who had the best chemistry with our Kiwi).
I live for the characters and I live for their relationships/friendships.
Music:
Opening - had nice vocals, but the song didn't slap too hard. It gets an "ok" from me.
Ending - ending is the best music this show produced. It was soft, it felt like Sunday afternoon and the vocals were great. 10/10, thank you.
Insert song - Loco Musica's L.O.V.E.Ly Loco♡ was the worst thing I ever heard, but it was so hilarious, I even posted it on my blog. I was so crazy when I was listening to it... Hilarious. It gets "what the fuck ♡" from me.Entertainment value:
We get three levels of censorships - all different in audio quality, if I am not mistaken. Pick yours!
I watched the one with censored moans and bottom body parts. Still, I got to see much more than I asked for. While I understand the anime was about the nudity/sexual stuff, I didn't care for it, and didn't need it. It wasn't bad though - it made me laugh more times than it made me cringe or regret watching it.Some of my favorite jokes come out of breaking 4th wall such as:
I loved how we got the usual "secret form" jokes, namely the: "she can't be her! they look too different!":
~~(Excuse the piss-poor quality)~~Overall, I don't think I was bored once.
On the worse side, a lot of time they dragged into the fights children. I do not like and can't forget or forgive that they had the magical girl naked and the kids were watching her. This wasn't something that needed to be done. They chose to do that. WTH. Bye.Conclusion: it's a must watch <3
Gushing Over Magical girls is a strangely wonderful story about weird friendship that will keep you confused-horny while you grin like an idiot because the humor is just that good. It looks great, it has two or three dark twists and promises for what will happen later in the story, it has a lot of cute girls that give us plenty of fanservice.
It's not what you expect, but oh boy, will you be happy you watched it!
If you have any doubts, don't have them. Even I, as someone who doesn't like hentai, who doesn't like Mahou Shoujo enjoyed it to the fullest. It just is that good. 10/10

100/100MahouAko is amazing!! I promise!!Continue on AniListSpoilers!!
“Gushing Over Magical Girls”, to put it simply, is amazing. It’s peak and beautiful, I never thought we’d get to a day where I could say, I like this just as much, if not more than “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” or “Puella Magi Madoka Magica.” But, because I’m putting more effort into this review than one paragraph and am not going to be simple…
Plot:
At its basis, it’s already pretty unique, it’s about a teenage girl named Utena, who loves magical girls, and is told she can become a magical girl by this mascot character Venalita, when she accepts, she soon finds out that Venalita works for the evil organization, and that she has to fight the magical girls she once adored, but it turns out that the love she had for the was some sort of twisted, sadistic love.
The plot, in my opinion, was done incredibly well. First of all, the plot progressed at a good pace, I didn’t feel it went too fast, but I didn’t feel it went too slow either, though I know some people may find it too fast or too slow at some points. It had the nicest mix, where there it would be serious, with tons of action, and there would be other times, where it would be lighthearted and comedic. It didn’t feel dragged out. Second of all, it’s very obvious why it did so much better than Acro Trip, despite Acro Trip coming out first, and that’s for a two main reasons, one: The comedy was just done better, yes Acro Trip was funny at times, but when it came to Gushing Over Magical Girls, they took a risk, and went fanservice heavy, but they did it in a great way, and in the end they got the funny, risk taking, mature at times Gushing Over Magical Girls, as opposed to the occasionally funny, simple Acro Trip. I’ll mention the other reason in the next section. There’s only one thing that I wasn’t a fan of, was that the episode where Magia Magenta turns huge (episode twelve I think), was chapter fourty-two, but the place in the story the episode was actually at should have been twenty-two, and it’s a bummer we missed out on that chapter, as it was a Loco and Leber chapter!! But other than that, the plot is really good.
Characters:
Oh my god, the characters are freaking awesome. With a show like this, you’d think that the characters would be absorbed by the fanservice but no, they had something outside the fanservice.
There’s Utena, our protagonist, who, when not transformed, is a shy girl who gushes over magical girls (hence the name). But when transformed, she starts to embrace her true self, and it’s a lot of fun to see the first episode Utena vs last episode Utena, because the difference is insane, she has great character development.
Then there’s Kiwi, a girl who’s in love with Utena, and is deeply protective of her. She has this very unique personality that’s hard for me to put into words, but I guess the best word for her would be feisty.
Neroalice: Okay, so I’ll be mentioning more about her later but… She’s an elementary schooler, and in my opinion, she acted like an actual kid, and I like her just as much as Mamu Mashiro (Magical Girl 201) and Anya Forger, both of which are characters that are children, and act like children (in my opinion).
Leberblume: Okay, so she’s a tsundere to put it simply, she acts tough on the outside but is actually a softy when it comes to her friend, Loco Musica, and it’s adorable to see!!
Loco Musica: She is such a fun character, her personality is just… another one that’s hard to put into words, but I guess loud and outgoing maybe? I love her relationship dynamic with Leberblume, because they’re super cute together!!
Magia Azul: She has a ton of character development, after getting torn down by Utena, she decides to really start training, and getting stronger, so she can defeat Utena, and eventually unlocks her ultimate form.
Magia Sulfur and Magia Magenta: They don’t develop too much unfortunately, but more is coming for them, promise!!
Overall I like the characters a ton, and they aren’t just consumed by fanservice!!
And the Acro Trip comparison, Acro Trip, in my opinion, had little to no character development, which is another reason why I feel it wasn’t done as well, as opposed to Gushing Over Magical Girls, which had so much character development, and one of the main things most people like in a story is the character development, it's not as fun when the character stays the same, it just feels the same, and I feel Acro Trip missed that opportunity, it had the potential to have character development, but they decided to keep them the same.
Fanservice:
One of the main controversies regarding the show is the amount of fanservice, and the character’s ages (fourteen) but here’s a fun fact, the characters were originally going to be sixteen, but was changed since most magical girls are younger. But I think, while yes, there’s a crap ton of fanservice, it does a good job at having a story beyond the fanservice, and that’s why I was able to enjoy it so much. But if we are comparing it to the manga, the anime is significantly worse when it comes to it, so if you still want the story but with a tiny bit less fanservice, you should read the manga, it is still fanservice heavy, but things like nudity generally wasn’t near as detailed (though it still was at times).
When it comes to Neroalice, who is depicted as an elementary schooler, they were very careful about not overly sexualizing her, she was never nude, her outfit isn’t revealing, where you would see pretty much every character's underwear, her dress never did anything, it just stayed in place. She was generally not shown in the sexual situations, and most things she did that was definitely for fanservicey reasons can also be easily explained as her acting like a child and playing with them, not realizing what she was doing was sexual. So yeah, I appreciate how they depicted Neroalice!!
Music:
It’s great. I love it!! They have music that fits what’s happening, and it’s the kind of soundtrack I’d enjoy listening to by itself!! Plus, the OP is super fun, and if you know what they're saying, it makes a lot of sense, same for the ED, which I RARELY watch EDs, but I did due to how much I enjoyed the song!!
Animation/Artstyle:
Great. It’s so good, it's very nice, and the show has such a great artstyle too!! I especially love the colors chosen, because damn, whoever chose the colors knew exactly what to do, and how to just make it perfect!!
Overall Impression:
I thoroughly enjoyed this anime, love the characters, and am so excited for season two (because it just gets better!!), and I feel if you can get past the fanservice that it's an enjoyable watch!! ^w^
