DESCRIPTION
Every morning at 6:58, commuters hurry onto the train at Sakuranomiya Station. For the past few months, a tentative romance has been brewing between two students from different schools. The young man is easily flustered, always stealing a glance at the young woman, but never making a move—much to the disappointment of the other passengers, who have been cheering them on in secret. Will this budding love story ever blossom?

90/100Every day, they get a little closerContinue on AniListPreface:
It hasnt been too long that i have even known about this manga, but i randomly decided to read it and enjoyed it so much i wanted to write about it some more. Before i start to write anything about my experience and what makes it so good i want to point out that the manga is still ongoing and that this is only a momentary capture of my feelings towards this series as of chapter 52. And this will be pretty much spoiler free, outside of the general premise. From here on i will also refer to the manga as "KesaYura" as a shortened term for the rather long title. The Train:
So we finally can begin, it is exactly 6:58 AM and everyday a romance is brewing between two complete strangers who only ever get to see each other in passing on their morning comute via the train to school. This is the general premise of KesaYura and i fell in love with it. It is a pretty universal experience. That one person you recognize, may it be the girl on the train to school or work in the morning, or that one guy you regularly see at your local supermarket shopping. We all have experienced something similar to that in some capacity, and KesaYura takes that idea and combines it with comedic side characters and two charming main characters that you want to root for. It is a story of two strangers growing closer and forming an actual bond out of it, something so simple that is (in my experience) never really the focus of other romances, maybe what some would call "Stage 0". How does one make an acquaintance and turns that into a friendship or even a romantic relationship that is what its really about. KesaYura understands its own perspective really well. It basically lets us play our own part, as if we were seeing this relationship being formed with our own eyes. And since most of us are already familiar with this concept it is easy to immerse yourself into the story. The Passengers:
All the characters you will get to know are just like that, normal people. The main characters on their way to school, and so is the university student next to them. Not that far away stand a office lady on the way to her job and the manager on his way to another boring meeting. They all are unique in their own right but seem like normal people to the others, but they notice something. The two high school students seem to like each other, and just how exciting does that make your boring morning commute where everything is so monotonous and boring. And just like the university student, office lady or manager, you stand there yourself and see this new relationship unfold full of silly misunderstandings and little bursts of affection. And this is another part of KesaYura i really like. it understands its own pace really well. There isnt some big event that happens all of the sudden and our characters are now in love, it is a gradual step by step story of how these two form a bond. It makes for a really satisfying read and never made me feel bored through the comedic events presented by everyday life. The Next Stop:
So i have written about the outline. How KesaYura is this basic story about some people on a train that just get to know each other somehow, why should i read it? Well there are a multitude of reasons why you should. KesaYura runs bi-weekly so each chapter is given more time to develop, and you can feel it. How each chapter basically has its own new idea, and how the art matches the comedic and romantic moments alike. It makes for a perfect balance if you want both comedy and romance and how it is reflected in the art, especially the facial expressions are on point. But the cast and the way they all interact is likely its biggest strength. How our two main characters interact with the world around them makes for some amazing character moments, and the same goes for all the side characters. If you are interested in a new fresh approach of the romance genre which is topped with some really solid comedy and slice of life moments you are in for a treat. And without spoiling too much, now would be a great time to get into the series. With what seems like to be a bigger story arc on the comeup in recent chapters. The Destination:
Now that we got through all of that its time to see what we are left with. Well i'll cut it short, a really great manga. KesaYura is incredibly fun to read and i do believe most people can get something out of it, may it be for the comedy, characters or the romance at its center. I wanted to raise a bit of awareness for this manga that flies under the radar of most. So thanks for reading my small review of KesaYura, there is a lot here i could have mentioned or said but i wanted to keep it rather short. Make it accessible to the people who are yet to read anything and aim for a blind experience. I hope you are now atleast a bit more interested in this piece of art and give it a try. And we'll see each other again on the next train, with that take care!
