  Shitfest Of The Asspull (Full-Potentials, Half-Baked Execution)

  DISCLAIMER: Review contains a lot of spoilers

  So, I don't like wasting my time with this bullshit so let's get to reveal what ever the fuck we have with this new season. As for the context, the previous 3 seasons were below par even for casual anime watchers so people would expect at least something better for this one. While yes, there were minor improvements many things were ruined immediately. But what are they? Let's find out.

  Plot - The Transition (8)

  For once more, or precisely for four times in a row, they have failed to capitalize what was big in the Light Novel. For the Y2, the objective was even much more simple than before: To expel Ayanokouji. And of course, they raised stakes! I'm not gonna talk how and why (that's gonna ruin this review and spoil the whole thing) they even do that because of all of a sudden, there is a mystery! Guess what? Who's gonna be the one who expels him? No, not even close? More like who's gonna turn into a fodder in every episode and I feel like hate-watching this is already more than enough time to waste. So no, thanks. Overall, the plot is decent but definitely not better than what is promised earlier and in fact was a total shitfest with so many ruined potentials even more in the anime. Basically, it's all asspull for the hype.

  Okay, next.

  Pace - The Tempo (8)

  Objectively-speaking, it definitely could have been better. In here it almost feels like an endless roundabout of playing the game of waiting for x turn during a tic-tac-toe game or just a monopoly with the twist being it becomes a snake and ladder. You know what I mean, it's a turn-based anime show with most of conversations almost feel like waiting for someone to end their speech without any interruption. For example, the rendezvous scene shouldn't have spent so much time and could have been fast-forwarded a bit too fast. They didn't need to pull out of this waiting every single time someone started talking. However, for some reason this direction was changed during the Island exam, as if they finally figured how to do dialogues and pacing correctly, but that wasn't enough.

  Portrayal - The Characters (8.5)

  Credit where it's due. At least there are no 'objectively' boring characters (with the sole exception of our NPC protagonist) this time, with the new appearance made up the whole portion of this season, not to mention so many new personalities. From Ichika stealing the show with the way she introduced herself, appearing to have this main heroine energy for the whole season, to Nanase's cruel backstory was well done. Even Fuka Kiryuuin stole the show despite only appearing for effectively ~12 minutes this whole season. The other main casts turn out to be as dazzling as ever, though Kiyotaka Ayanokouji... as usual, has never changed since the first time he entered ANHS so who knows at this point. Meh.

  Animation & Voices - The Actors & Visual (9)

  Okay, let's get a bit quicker since I decided to merge both categories just for this shitfest because it's getting a bit too boring. Yes, voices are great as usual but the animation should take more notice this time: Compared to other seasons, it's indubitably the best, especially given the way each character moved. Not robotic unlike previous seasons (except you are Kiyotaka Ayanokouji) with a little to barely non-existent animations. But in S4, even the hair movement was done properly. There was also this scene where Kushida and Sudou got startled over Suzune Horikita's new haircut for the sake of comedic effect. So yeah, overall it was good.

  Art Style - The Drawing (8)

  To be fair, many things could have been better, especially for the lighting and colour composition but meh, this is Lerche. What are you going to expect? They even managed to hide this lack of colour composition throughout lighting effects, especially during the fight scene between Kiyo and Housen, for example.

  Soundtracks - The Music (9)

  As usual, ZAQ never disappointed even when it's now put as the ED. It has peak symbolism with "Liar Veil" describing Kiyo's perpetual struggles against his father and of course, edgelord behaviors. But the OP was just all flashy and no actual significiance. While sure, "Monster" definitely is not a bad song at all (in-fact it is really decent) I wouldn't associate this OP with COTE especially when it failed to capture the essence of COTE. So, another petition to put ZAQ as OP for the next season. Anyway, apart from songs, the sound effects were really good as usual, or mostly it's expected especially during comedic scenes or action scenes. Though the most typical one was when Class A Arisu played...

  It just gives me chills as usual. So yeah, well done.

  Enjoyment - Spoilers vs Verdict (5)

  Yep, this is the section where I'm gonna full all out with details for Y2 then compared this to the anime, because the anime once again pulled the greatest asspull move of all-times with this one.

  First of all, let's talk about the first four episodes. While yes, there were suspense elements here and there not to mention mystery or perhaps... idk what ever, it failed to capture my interests at all. I was just here for hype and what ever bad about this show and I couldn't say it was that bad because first of all, Ichika's plan was well-explained despite the lack of details showed. Second, the WR student who wanted to expel Kiyo should've been obvious by the time you reached Episode 10 or so (not gonna spoil who but you just need a sharp mind), and Tsubaki's ahhh asspull masterplan wasn't well-explained and it almost went like "Yeah, let's just stop Ayanokouji by turning the whole generation into full brawling mode." No thought, mindless just a total asspull. Even Nagumo's plan wasn't well-explained. Was it to save his class or was it just to win? Idk, idk. I just know Koenji is gonna win it anyway no matter what.

  Alright, that's all and...

  With small changes it could have been perfect

  Summary of S4
  there new first years entering ANHS.there is a special exam for certain first years,Ichika,Nanase,Yagami,Utomiya and Tsubaki they all have to expel Ayanokoji but one of the first years is from the white room.can Ayanokoji avoid getting expelled and getting sent to the white room?

  1. The good of COTE s4!!!!:)

  As a reader of the original light novel,classroom of the elite:year 2,I thought this season was the most accurate to the light novel,giving 4 episodes for each volume (1-4).The change of art style was bad for a lot of people but I thought it was a very nice change,making characters look more accurate to their light novels illustrations.The fights scenes were very well choreographed and animated (ep 4,12 and 16).The opening and ending songs were REALLY catchy and ZAQ returned once again to do the ending song this time.The voice acting fit really well with the new first years and I think Kiriyuen's introduction was nicely done and the setting was well planned out,in a park with roses covering pillars.

             2.    the bad :(

  there isn't much bad I felt like the lining was really bad it made some shots look incomplete or rushed,idk if it was a "artistic choice" but it didn't sit well with me,I hope for 5th season they change this problem.I feel like Ayanokoji getting a perfect score should have been more surprising for their classmates (ep 5) it felt unsettling that only a couple students in class to witness him getting a hundred,because Chabashira did say that no one got a 100 besides ayanokoji.ichika's hair colour had no shadows too it so it made it look weird or unfinished.

            4. New characters

  I feel like the new art style made characters look almost identical to their light novel counter part
  I think all the new characters voices were exactly what I would have imagined aside from Kiriyuen,since she has a kouenji-like vibe I thought her voice would be a little rough and not as high as she is in the anime,well I'm a dub watcher so it might have been different for sub.The trailer really threw me off when I saw Kiriyuen with her hair covering her eye.My personal favourite is Nanase and Ichika.

  All In all this was a great season of classroom of the elite it was nice to have 16 eps unlike the usual 12,If you want the full experience I suggest reading the light novel or if you want to continuo from the end of s4 start with volume 5 of COTE year 2.If they made some minor changes I think this season would have been perfect,but it was still a enjoyable watch!!!!

  I'm also really excited for season 5 I hope it comes out some time next year but if the quality improves im willing to wait till 2028,the stakes will get way higher next semester...

  COTE s4 is redemption from its previous 3 seasons

  Disclaimer: I did not read the LN. This is pure anime speculation only. And also, I assumed you already finished the first 3 seasons of COTE, so some information that could spoil the first 3 seasons will still be in here.

  It’s the start of the new school semester for ANHS Special High, and Ayanokoji and class 2-D become Year 2 students. He also heard that there is a white-room student that is planning to expel him once and for all, and he cannot put his caution down whatsoever. The characters will be discussed in the characters section, as all of them are pretty interesting.

  The first attack came from a first-year called Hosen, who wanted the bounty for himself. He basically tried to fake-stab himself in order to claim that Ayanokoji was the one who stabbed him, but his plans foil when Koji figured out everything from the start, and intentionally get stabbed in the hands, so Hosen could not retaliate to claim that, and now Koji can in fact, claim expulsion of Hosen for himself. However, he instead asked him to pair with him in the exam where a senior has to pair with a junior, precisely getting benefitted from so.

  The second-year island exam had begun, and this time he met Nanase, and Nanase also wanted to throw hands basically with Koji, where she claims her aggression was caused by her other persona. She wanted Koji to hit her so she can claim that Koji assaulted her in the dark which can lead to him being disqualified in the exam, sealing his expulsion. However, Koji basically humbled her to the point where she just gave up trying.

  Koji not only met Nanase however, he also met quite a bit of others which also had a bit of a cameo. Koji saw Hiyori (my goat!), and they already get shipped immediately by my goat Kanzaki, as they make such a good pair of couples together (but Kei is right there lol). He also saw Kei and gave her a kiss. We also see the biggest bomb of the century, Ichinose’s love confession to Koji. Well, all I could say is +1 tool to Ayanokoji. He clearly isn’t interested in her, but only time will tell on what would happen.

  Next, Class 1-B, 1-C and 1-D teamed up to attempt to stop Ayanokoji, notably Tsubaki, Utomiya and Hosen all tried their best to lock him up. However, Ayanokoji already knew this was going to happen, so he basically asked Sayakanagi for help beforehand, and his 2nd year allies stopped the 1st years in their tracks, so he could reach his checkpoint efficiently. And we get to see Hosen take yet another L, when Ryuen with the help of Albert and Kanzaki locks Hosen up, and he beats the pulp out of Hosen.

  Meanwhile on Horikita’s side, she met Ibuki, and initially they were fighting each other, but Ichika showed up, and they had to team up in order to beat up Ichika. As we know, Ichika isn’t an ordinary fighter, and she could rival both of them even when she’s gravely injured.

  Ayanokoji eventually reached his destination, where he had to face his final boss, Chairman Tsukishiro and another teacher, Katsunori Shiba went ahead and basically wanted to 2v1 him. They were quite even, and it’s basically a stalemate. However, the stalemate is broken, when Kiryuin, a 3rd year who was in fact quite fancy with Koji decided to help him out. She fought the teacher, whereas we see Koji throw hands with Tsukishiro. In the end, he decisively won when Tsukishiro attempted to taser him, but he cleverly grabbed him so there’s no way to shock him.

  In the end, the Island arc is concluded, and the first place goes to Koenji. However, this may prove disastrous for them, as they had previously made a promise to Koenji that if he got first place, he could not be bothered by Class 2-D anymore. What would happen next? S5 we go.

  Characters: 10/10

  ---

  This season really showed why Ayanokoji is among one of the strongest guys in the verse, with no one else really in the same tier as him (except maybe Koenji, my goat).

  From Class 1-A, there is Ichika Amasawa, a girl with red hair and a mischievous personality. She is the epitome of a devious character and very cunning indeed. She was in the White room with crazy physical abilities as well as intelligence. Whatever she said, it’s basically trying to provoke others, and that’s what makes her so great! And also her design is just really good in general. Ichika, my goat!

  From Class 1-B, Takuya Yagami. A polite young man with possibly a dark side. He isn’t very prominent in this season. From Class 1-C, Tsubaki and Utomiya serve as a pair of generals. We had seen them scheming, but all their plans are quite unsuccessful, except maybe for the negotiations to team with Class 1-D.

  Class 1-D is the more interesting class to say the least. We got the gorilla, Hosen. He is kind of like Ryuen in a way, but more demanding of power as well as stronger physically. Think of a Ryuen but more irrational. But we don’t have Ryuen slander here, so he’s just Hosen. The fact that he is also quite smart is quite unfair lol. The only bad part about him is his inability to work with others and the fact that he is a tyrant in his class. Meanwhile, I want to talk about the goat Tsubasa Nanase, the goddess of the whole Year 1 arc. She’s the goat. Her backstory is kind of sad, really. But the fact that she managed to be a good guy for Koji as well as the intel for him is what made me really like her. They respect each other just well and she also has quite the story impact in the show.

  Let’s talk about the third years, notably Kiryuin. She’s quite decent. I like her character basically being female Koenji, but she’s much more approachable and just overall a decent character. I wish she had more screen time though, she deserves it lowkey. Ah yes, also the student council president Miyabi Nagumo gets beat up by Koji, which was a great sight to see to say the least. We only slander Nagumo here by the way.
  The rest of the characters, we only really see them in like one or two scenes, so there’s not much to say about them.

  Okay, new art style. Contrary to popular belief, I actually quite liked the new art style. In fact, I say it’s even better than the first 3 seasons. For starters, they actually fixed Ichinose’s hair colour to fit the LN more. Next, Hiyori, Nanase, Ichinose, Ichika, Kiryuin all look very stunning in this artstyle. Not to say the other ladies look bad, it’s just that they look the best in my humble opinion. And also why are there so many scenes of them just throwing hands lol. The budget clearly increased for this one season. And one nice thing is there isn’t much more fanservice in this season (except for that one Nanase scene but that’s necessary for the plot.).

  The OP and ED are both really good. MONSTER is just a gasp of fresh air of a theme song. However, ZAQ didn’t disappear, as she made the ED ‘Liar Veil’. Bro, also one thing, do NOT watch the ED with your family TV. Just trust me.

  Call me an emo 14-y.o or whatever, but I really liked the story and it’s amazing to see how the plot is moving. I like the direction of the show, I don’t get confused by just how many characters there are. In fact, it’s more entertaining this way because Koji actually had to account for everyone in the show so that his plans are flawless. I really enjoyed it. Will keep up with Season 5.
