70/100*Insert Gorilla Noises Here*Continue on AniListMy Review of "The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl"!
This anime showed me that 100 humans would NOT be able to fight 1 Gorilla (God)
____Story____ Sophia Reeler was a shy royal girl who wanted to live a normal and ordinary life. However, after receiving a rare blessing by the Gorilla God, her planned life takes a turn as the Royal Knights begin scouting and taking interest in her. As the anime continues, her life slowly turns into anything but normal.

____Characters____ Sophia Reeler is a friendly girl blessed with many powerful abilities by the Gorilla God. Her personality is attractive to many guys in her school and in her military unit. Louis Scarrel is a kind and humble junior knight that helps Sophia adjust to her new life. With his blessing from the Squirrel God, he’s able to take the form of a squirrel, which ends up playing some useful roles in the story.

____The Good____ The Gorilla God has hilarious expressions. Although he doesn't show up as often as he probably should've, I do chuckle whenever he has some sort of awkward or shocked face. Speaking of hilarious, the way some of the characters’ powers and abilities are presented end up being a bit humorous. The Gorilla God ended up being one of my favorite parts of the anime (well, it makes sense. He should be one of the main attractions for an anime mentioning him). I also like the ED. Didn’t skip it the entire time because it’s a banger.

____The Bad____ To be honest, this anime is quite predictable. It plays safe and doesn’t really do anything too risky that would surprise or shock people. It does take away from the suspense and interest in the story since you probably would know what happens next or who’s behind what. A bit of a picky complaint I have is that the OP and ED sound like the opposite of each other. The OP has the vibes of an ED, but the ED has a vibe of an OP. It’s like I’m supposed to be hype at the end of the anime instead of the beginning, which just doesn’t work.

____The Downright Ugly____ Nothing downright ugly here :D

____Is It Worth The Watch?____ I’m a bit unsure whether this is worth the watch or not. It’s not like it’s a bad story or the anime sucks, it’s just that I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch this anime. If you’re into this type of story, more power to you. However, I’d say this wasn’t worth the watch for me, but just barely.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope this helped you with your decision on whether to watch this anime or not! If you already have watched it, I hope that you can agree with me with some of the points I made. If you enjoyed this review, I would greatly appreciate a follow too! ^^

50/100Another stereotypical Rom-Com fantasyContinue on AniListBeing granted the power of super strength is a blessing. Well, to some people, at least. Sophia only wants to keep a low profile and avoid getting attention, especially from Carrisa, who comes from a noble family and bullies her every day. Until she gets the power of a god, not just any gob but of a rare god called the Gorilla, giving her the ability of strength seven times without being pressured to join the knights but wishing her the best. Her journey begins with Louis, a guy she met at training who also recently joined her school. It's a cliche story with confusion.
Animation (9): It's decently animated, from The way the scenes are on screen, and the animation looks alright. But done in a way that feels like any of the rom-com fantasy settings seen in the genre. With a school setting and another side hustle, such as military training. Which are typical of a fantasy-style kingdom with nobles. There is nothing else to say on an individual level regarding animation.
Audio (5): It's an average sound mixing—reminiscent of otome games set in the fantasy genre, with similar theming that matches the theme and vibe of the overall. At the same time, it gets generic and somewhat repetitive in sound, with classical music and noble party music. Maybe some variation can be utilized as an improvement.
Characters (4): We meet Sophia, a noble from a country who wishes for a low profile in the background. Until she gains the Gorilla gob powers and gets recommended to be in the knights. Which contains Louis, Isaac, and Eddie. Which are below average in romantic interest, with Louis being in the lead. Who is often likened to a squirrel and has a squirrel-like form, in contrast to Isaac and Eddie, who possess normal "dog" and "cat" traits and personalities. The reveal of Louis's change into a squirrel surprised me, as other animal abilities do not allow the person to transform into the animal form. However, it provides only limited information about the characteristics of the animal in question, such as the mole god's ability to see in the dark, which Clarisa is currently demonstrating: Clarisa, Sophia's "bully" for being from a lower social status than hers. Then, later, her friend met Araignee at the party. Where she befriends and then betrays Sophia by force, and she later regains her trust in one episode. Also, the "villain" character Leohart had a rags-to-riches story. With exploitation, it is because the nobles are snobbish and greedy, seeking their benefit. However the dynamics between each character are alright, but the only significant problem is that it becomes unaddressed when they suddenly become friends. Or I realized that I dislike it now. Leading to confusion and dull characters.
Story (5): A pretty stereotypical romance fantasy setting with nobles. The only notable aspect is the secret rebellion that didn't receive solid attention until the finale. Manly focused on school life or knight training that is not blended well. Along with introducing people to inconstantly with not showing up until later episodes. With only Sophia and the other three boys. The written revelation of the rebellion is poor, and the motivation is dull. Leading to a very confusing and uninteresting story that makes no sense.
Overall (2): It's a below-average show with fantasy romantic elements. That's written on anime over and over again. Looking quite mediocre compared to others in the genre, it leads to confusion and dull anime within the fantasy romance category.
Thanks for reading!

80/100Para mi sorpresa, encontré una historia de fantasía ligera con una dosis inesperadamente bien ejecutada de romance.Continue on AniListVersión en español
English version
I didn’t know what to expect with such a peculiar title like The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl, but to my surprise, I found a light fantasy story with an unexpectedly well-executed romance.
I had my doubts about watching this anime because I’m not a fan of stories where humans transform into animals. I can tolerate it to a certain extent (like in Fruits Basket), so I was worried about how the concept of blessings would be handled here. Thankfully, most characters keep their human form. Only one character actually transforms, and no, it’s not the female lead.
The plot is fairly typical, an insecure girl suddenly gains immense power and everyone around her starts to take an interest in her. Despite that, it was surprisingly engaging. It’s not a reverse harem, which I appreciated a lot, the main character, Sophia, only shows interest in the male lead, Louis, and never wavers or plays around with others. That alone was refreshing, especially because I’m tired of unnecessary love triangles. On the downside, some conflicts were resolved way too quickly or in an unconvincing way, like the bullying toward Sophia, which was handled far too lightly.
If there’s one thing worth highlighting, it’s the development of the romance between Sophia and Louis. It felt natural and is a great example of how a romance can be well-developed in just 12 episodes. I was genuinely surprised, especially for a shoujo, and it was nice to see a couple come together halfway through the story instead of in the last minutes of the final episode.
That said, Sophia’s character was a bit frustrating at first. As a protagonist, she was too passive, always trying to go unnoticed or hide things, especially in the earlier episodes. Thankfully, she improves a bit by the end, and I have hope she’ll continue growing if we get a second season. I’m not familiar with the manga, so I don’t know how the story progresses there.
As for the animation, it’s pretty basic, but honestly, it’s rare to find a shoujo anime with high production quality, so I wasn’t expecting much to begin with.
Lastly, if you’re expecting constant battles just because Sophia joins the knights, you might be disappointed. The anime is more laid-back, with just enough action to support the story. But if what you’re really looking for is a solid romance with cute moments between the leads, a bit of comedy, and some fantasy sprinkled in, this could be a nice pick to relax with.
It’s not a groundbreaking story, and it doesn’t have the best visuals, but it stands out for offering a sweet and drama-free romance between the main couple, and sometimes, that’s more than enough.
