Ludwig, the egotistical and necrophiliac prince... Yeah sounds interesting I'll give it a read
If I were to star in my own gothic romance story, I'd want this manga to be my lover in death. NOT SPOILER FREE****

I could go on and on about the ~~love story~~ adventures of Prince Ludwig and his manservant Wilhelm but I fear I'd run out of characters to type. So I'll give an actual review. (lol)

Ludwig, an egotistical ~~necrophiliac~~ anti-hero womanizer prince that chooses his brides by their bust size.... Yeah Ms. Yuki strikes again with that character description, it's only something she could come up with. That alone is what trapped me in this twisted (yet comedic) fairytale. Thank you Ms. Yuki

Ludwig Kakumei is an exciting shoujo gothic horror turned comedy that caters to your bishounen needs. You want beautiful men and women? Don't worry, you're reading a Kaori Yuki work, it's guaranteed with her art style (thank you Ms. Yuki).
This manga inspired my fashion and art style to grow, as well as my own character stories. The character relationships are another of my favourite details, ESPECIALLY between Ludwig and Wilhelm. I will die on the hill that Ludwig is just a new breed of tsundere never seen before, you just... have to read his childhood chapters to see my vision...

Lisette and Ludwig fighting over who gets to be the S to Wilhelm's M is another of my favourite parts of this manga. I have a bias but it's funny to read it as a love triangle with the manservant being the object of attraction. Do not be fooled by Ludwig's beauty, Wilhelm is the true shoujo protagonist here. (jokes) (ludwig don't kill me).

The character growth is another beautiful thing. While I can't say the prince becomes a better man, I enjoy the growth he shows nonetheless (and why would you want a man like him to become better anyways, the nastiness is the appeal!) The way he grows to appreciate Wilhelm (in his own way) after talking to that elderly woman was so heartwarming. One of my favourite panels is the one of him saying her soup gave him a warm feeling after their talk. This is actually referenced in Ludwig Fantasia where he talks about protecting those who sacrifice their lives for yours. Which is why he's such a tsundere because he's shown time and time again he cares deeply for WIlhelm but always has to come up with an excuse. Hell he even pulls the classic "it's not like I was trying to save you" like two times LOL

Ms Yuki has blessed my eyes and forever changed my preferences in fiction, After reading this I found myself craving more.

Ludwig Kakumei, my favourite Kaori Yuki work, and what started me on my journey into the Kaori Yuki corpus.
