70/100Dr. Wheelo doesn't have a body and longs to be inside the mightiest warrior thus he layed his eyes on Roshi. But...Continue on AniListDragon Ball Z movie 2 The world's strongest is about an evil scientist Dr. Wheelo of whom only the brain is left wanting to transfer his mind on the body of the worlds strongest.
Like most Dragon Ball Z movies, this one can't fit into the main timeline but can be watched after finishing the Saiyan Saga. Like many others, it uses homages to recently used techniques of the most recent arc.
The appeal of the movie is also that this is the only time Master Roshi is involved in fighting in the Z era since he retired in the original Dragon Ball from fighting since the younger generation all surpassed him. But because the antagonist still believes that Roshi is the world strongest, he ended up being involved giving them a reality call when that turns out not to be the case. The henchmen in this movie also possess unique powers and giving visually amazing fighting scenes where Goku has to use a move for different reasons to overcome these powers.
The main cast of characters behave as they do normally. Gohan struggles with his needs and wants meaning his studies or spending time with Piccolo. That being a trend in the movies continuities of Dragon Ball. Krillin would usually help him out in combat while Piccolo starting the tradition of coming to save Gohan from whatever.
Goku is his generic heroic self which is typical in DBZ movies.
Dr. Wheelo is very analytic and doesn't recklessly rush into action unlike his assistant Dr. Kochin who is a close friend who did a mistake that cost his life despite Wheelo's warning. The movie struggles to stand on its own. While Dr. Wheelo has a unique goal, he is still a Dragon Ball Z villain who does what most Dragon Ball Z villains do when cornered. Another thing is that the movie doesn't have any grandiose moment in the final. The fights are good but nothing feels amazing enough to go back and rewatch it since most of the best scenes are homages. Even the Student-Mentor Kamehameha isn't remembered well by fans which is unique to this movie.
There is also the confusing part with timeline placement. While DBZ movies are considered their own story far removed from the main plot since they can't fit in, there are references made directly about stuff that happened in the anime which can confuse viewers.
Lastly how Wheelo is defeated is similar to how many other movie characters get defeated which can't be used against the movie since it is the first time it happens but doesn't make it any better.Overall to get most out of this movie, you need to watch it before the movies that come after it since it will end up feeling repetitive. It is still a good movie and if you haven't you should give it a shot.

68/100The World's Strongest is a surprisingly good DBZ movie everybody who's a fan of DBZ is ought to watch. [SPOILERS]Continue on AniList___The World's Strongest is a surprisingly good DBZ movie for it's time. It has an interesting story due to the backstory of the antagonist and the state he was left in after it combined good pacing and dialogue to make for a DBZ movie. However, the new characters desires aren't that original making them a little repetitive but I would still recommend watching to anybody who's a fan of the non-canon timelines.___
The World's Strongest is a story about Dr. Wheelo. A mad scientist from five decades past, along with his assistant, was sabotaged and buried under the ice of the Tsumisumbri Mountains due to their research being taboo and unethical.
However, miraculously, they both survive but Dr. Wheelo's assistant is the only one who can leave the ice due to Dr. Wheelo himself just being a human brain in a mechanical body since he lost his body in the avalanche that buried them in the ice.
Dr. Chocin (assistant) collects the Dragon Balls to free Dr. Wheelo from the ice and give him the chance to search for the Earth's strongest fighter and take their body for Dr. Wheelo to inhabit. This leads to a chain of events where Master Roshi and Bulma being kidnapped due to the doctors having outdated knowlegde from decades ago which made them believe Roshi was still the strongest on Earth.
And then, as usual, Goku, Piccolo; Krillin and Gohan arrive in order to save Master Roshi and Bulma leading to Dr. Wheelo being thwarted.
The story of The World's Strongest is its strong suit. Usually, Dragon Ball movies often recycle ideas from other non-canon movies or rip off the canon timeline while just changing the setting and design of the place the Z Fighters are at and the villain they're fighting.
This movie is guilty of that somewhat. E.g. Dr. Wheelo's desire to take over the world which is a common theme for villains like King Piccolo, organisations like The Red Ribbon Army and underwhelming movies like Lord Slug.
However, it manages to keep my attention by switching up the formula a bit and making the main antagonist's backstory interesting and keeping it in the viewers mind through dialogue in the movie. The concept of a villain who is just a brain and aims to take over the body of the protagonist isn't something we've seen before in Dragon Ball and I suspect Akira Toriyama took this idea into context and refined it during the Cell Saga of DBZ.
Another good thing about the story/plot of this movie is the involvement of the other members of the cast and not just Goku that's present throughout. Such as Master Roshi having a genuine fight in the first 20 minutes, Gohan being the reason why Piccolo is freed from mind control and Piccolo and Gohan stalling Dr. Wheelo in the atmosphere while Goku gets the Spirit Bomb ready. Sadly, Krillin doesn't really get any good treatment in this movie which is the usual.
___Overall, The World's Strongest is a pretty decent DBZ movie!___
